Training for Success
A4e is delighted to be delivering Training for Success to young people in Northern Ireland. The programme is part of the Department for Employment and Learning's new professional and technical training programmes.
Training for Success will enable businesses to grow, develop, diversify and expand by raising the skills level of their employees and so improving productivity. The economic impact is expected to be significant, but the impact that the programme will have on young people should not be underestimated. 16 - 24 year olds will be able to access a flexible training programme that will ensure that they are able to enter training at an appropriate level and progress to a stage where they can maximise their potential through the achievement of qualifications and employment - turning jobs into careers.
Training for Success is designed to enable participants to progress to higher level training, further education, or employment by providing training to address personal and social development needs, develop occupational skills and employability skills and, where necessary, Essential Skills training.
Training for Success is delivered through three components:
(1) Skills for Your Life
(formerly Personal Development) To address the personal and development needs of young people who have disengaged from learning and/or have significant obstacles.
(2) Skills for Work
To help young people gain skills and a Vocationally Related Qualification at Level 1 to be able to gain employment, to progress to Pre-Apprenticeship or Apprenticeship provision, or to further education.
(3) Pre-Apprenticeship
To ensure that those who have been assessed as being capable of achieving a Vocationally Related Qualification at Level 2, but who have not yet secured employment, are prepared for future progression to employment as an Apprentice.
