What is Skills for Life

Background Postit

Skills for Life is a national initiative to improve the reading, writing, numeracy and ICT skills of the UK workforce. The qualifications are designed to help individuals develop the “basic skills” that they use in their everyday life and work.

Our Key Objectives

  • Support the Government’s key target to improve the UK’s adult literacy, language, numeracy and ICT skills.
  • Position Skills for Life at the centre of the A4e mission to improve people’s lives.
  • Identify the barriers to learning and work with Learners, Employers and Partners to remove them.
  • Improve business performance, in partnership with Employers, by embedding Skills for Life within the working environment.
